All of America can remember the devastation of Hurricane Katrina on the City of New Orleans in 2005. The remnants of this natural disaster still remain in many parts of this city, costing many lives, and uprooted many families to live elsewhere. It was one of the most devastating events in the history of America, and help came from all over in the form of charity, civilians and the military.
The military sent many guardsmen to help the homeless residents, and they witnessed suffering, death, and confusion that should never occur in such a great and rich country. But that is not the only things two of the many National Guardsmen witnessed during this trying time for New Orleans, far from it.
Although, the witnesses chose to remain anonymous, the owner and photographer of the picture gave me permission to publish it on the Internet, and to tell the story behind this haunting image. I will refer to the picture taker as Witness M and the second as Witness A. Both are National Guardsmen who where sent to New Orleans to help it citizens.
Witness M is a credible individual with many years in the "Guard", and holds an Administrative Office at his present place of employment. Witness M has been on several tours of duty to the Middle East, serving both in the Gulf War and the War in Iraq. The sites and experiences this man has endured and witness lends me to believe his story of the picture he took in 2005.
Witness A is an unknown person in the National Guard. I never ask anymore information on this person, and none was volunteered.
Now Witness M's Story:
During late 2005 Witness M was stationed in New Orleans, with other fellow Guardsmen, in the form of physical aide for the city. It was often that they took many pictures during their stay. One day he walked inside the Superdome, and noticed a shaft of bright sun light coming down from the top of the dome and displaying itself onto the turf of the football field. So, he decided to take a picture.
As Witness M lifted his camera up to his face, imagine his surprise when he saw something else in the bright light, two light figures standing directly in the shaft of light, and on the field. The figures where very pronounced and had the same brightness as the sun light. Confused, he lowered the camera and the figures where gone, then he raised the camera again and the figures where there, again. So, he snapped a picture.
Witness M yelled at Witness A and he saw the same bright figures in the LCD of the digital camera, but couldn't see them with his naked eye either. Witness M asked Witness A if he would walk over to where they could see the figures in the camera, too see if someone or something was causing a strange reflection.
Witness A walked right into, and through the shaft of sun light during his inspection, but there was not on object in the vicinity of the light ray. By the time Witness A came back to where Witness M was standing with the camera, the figures had disappeared and only the lone ray of sun light shone on the field.
If you notice, none of the other people around the area seem to notice anything, and are calmly going about their business. If you look at the picture closely, you can see their is nothing close enough to cause the bright figures. They seem to have materialized from nothing more than the sun light, and appear semi-opaque.
What is this picture of, Guardian Angels sent down to watch over Hurricane Katrina Victims, ghosts of the dead or just a trick of the light? We may never know.
Witness A showed the picture to a few friends, but didn't want to be scrutinized for playing tricks with his camera, or seeing "ghost". It took him a couple of years before he showed anyone else the picture. He didn't want any publicity or money for the picture, because he thought they where angels, and didn't think it would be right to sell it.
Disclaimer: Althought this picture is not a hoax, the author cannot guarantee the authenticity of this photo. However, the witnesses are real people whom wished to be anonymous, but credible nonetheless.
